First….The lighter side of “Work”:
“God put me on this Earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now, I am so far behind I will never die.” – Anonymous
I like work; it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours.
– Jerome K. Jerome
The Nuance of Work
Whenever we hear the word “work” there is a tendency to automatically think of hard labor, both physically and mentally, and doing such for many hours a day. Our minds fill with the extensive time and effort involved in “work”.
Rarely do we immediately get the mental image of spending extensive time and effort involved with a smile on our face. Nor do we picture ourselves with feelings of fulfillment, enjoyment and satisfaction.
A majority of people spend the day at a job that is perceived as “work” without the fun, fulfillment or satisfaction. They leave their “work” and then go home to spend time and effort on their “hobby” or something else where their passion lies.
When you think about it, your hobby or activity that uses your passion can require extensive hours and effort yet never feels like “work”, does it? When we spend time at our passion, our entire being is involved in the process. When doing the work related to our hobby we feel connected and our soul is fulfilled bringing us inner joy.
The nuance is that when we spend time using our passion to build and create using our special talents, our entire being is involved. We are then a conduit for the amazing uniqueness and wonderment of the Universe to flow through us. Doing so brings powerful and beautiful gifts, love, information and answers to the world. And the result is we are in the flow with the Universe and finding our purpose. And being connected with our true purpose is what life is all about. Only then do we find our inner peace.
In addition, the nuance is that in doing our passion, there is “work’ involved, but the kind that is required to learn a new skill or talent. Becoming an expert or professional in a sport, playing an instrument, being a teacher, an engineer or anything else requires time and effort to perfect our craft. But this “work” is no longer painful, yet is there for us to fully experience the depth of perfection.
Follow your passion and as you connect to your soul purpose the “work” will no longer be work. Rather the flowing of creativity through you will produce inner harmony. And when you give to the world, you will receive more than you expected. Abundance will make its way to you.
As always, remember that we can understand the fundamentals, but success comes when we master the nuances.
Gary,
this is a wonderful post! I love the quote at the beginning…seems like I’m in that mindset now LOL…
Great information. We are all designed for passion and purpose, but as you pointed out, we get lost along the way and have to rediscover and uncover who we really are.
Thanks
